Canadian marine services provider McKeil Marine Limited, based in Burlington, Ontario announced that Steve Fletcher is retiring from his position as President and CEO and will be succeeded by veteran shipping executive Scott Bravener, effective March 18.

Steve  Fletcher joined McKeil Marine in 1999 and has been instrumental in the company's growth. Vice Chairman Blair McKeil emphasizes, "Steve has played a key role in setting the strategic direction for the business that has empowered McKeil to become a significant player in the Great Lakes transportation industry. We wouldn't be here today without him."

Blair McKeil is joined by the entire Board of Directors and shareholders of McKeil Marine to thank Steve for his years of hard work and dedicated service and wish him many happy years in his retirement.

Scott Bravener comes to McKeil after an impressive career of more than 30 years in the maritime industry, stated a company announcement. He was the founder of Lower Lakes Towing Ltd., which started in 1994 and grew under Scott's leadership to own and operate, along with its U.S. affiliate Rand River Navigation Company, a fleet of 16 dry-bulk vessels. Scott  Bravener was most recently Co-president and Chief Operating Officer of Rand Logistics Inc., the parent company of these two companies. In 2013, he was selected as Great Lakes "Maritime Man of the Year" and inducted into the Great Lakes Marine Hall of Fame.

"Scott recognizes McKeil's position as a leading, innovative marine services provider and shares our passion for the maritime transportation and projects business," added Blair McKeil. "We are confident that he and the McKeil Marine team will lead this company on to continued growth and success while retaining the family culture that makes us who we are. I'm excited about the future for all of us at McKeil."
